National volleyball player Kim Yeon-kyung appeals against KOVO for arbitrary withdrawal -...

[MyDaily = Jongguk Kim]Kim Yeon-kyung has filed an appeal against her voluntary withdrawal from the Korea Volleyball Organization (KOVO).

Inspo Korea, Kim's agent, filed an inquiry and appeal with the KOVO on Tuesday through law firm Hanbyul. They asked whether Kim is a registered player of KOVO and whether she is a member of the KOVO club, as she does not have a contract with a club in the league.

Lawyer Kim Tae-young of Hanbyul Law Firm said that regardless of KOVO's free agent status, a club may not re-sign a player once the contract period in the contract ends.-->such as a player can also refuse to re-sign with a club, and the action against a player's refusal to sign a contract only occurs during the period when the club's exclusive contractual rights to the drafted player are recognized, and in the case of Kim Yeon-kyung, the five-year contract period of the drafted player has expired.

In addition, Kim Yeon-kyung did not disclose what specific regulations she violated in accordance with Article 1 of the KOVO Disciplinary Committee's Regulations for the July 1 'voluntary withdrawal' announcement, She submitted an 'appeal' stating that she had not violated any of the federation's regulations, but rather that she had expressed her intention to play for a club other than KOVO by refusing to re-sign after her contract with Heungkuk ended, and therefore, it was legal for her to be announced as a 'retired player' under Article 59 (Retired Players) of the KOVO Rules as she had no intention of re-signing after her contract expired.

KIM Tae-young added that any adverse action against an athlete must specify the grounds and violations, and asked what KOVO's position was on the 'retired athlete' claim.
