[Herald Economy 2019. 6. 17. Article]

A new standard contract will be introduced for workers in the field of technical support such as stage technology, a blind spot in the performing arts sector where workers are not treated properly in poor working conditions.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Park Yang-woo, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry) announced that it will hold an open discussion on the introduction of a standard contract for technical support in the performing arts at the Arts Center Business Room on the 16th.

The Ministry has been developing and distributing standard contracts in the performing arts for the welfare of artists and a fair compensation system, but this time, it is developing a customized standard contract for workers in technical fields such as stage technology.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has been operating the 'Technical Support Standard Contract Development Council' composed of performing arts industry and related experts, and has gone through a process of collecting opinions through a public discussion on the draft in December last year, and has prepared two contracts (draft), including a standard labor contract and a standard service contract in the technical field, reflecting field opinions.

In this public discussion, △ Professor Nam Ki-yeon of Dankook University will introduce the progress of the standard contract in the field of performing arts technical support, △ Professor Yoon Tae-young of Ajou University will present the 'Standard Labor Contract for Performing Arts Technical Support', and △ Attorney Ahn Byung-han of Hanbyul Law Firm will present the 'Standard Service Contract for Performing Arts Technical Support'.

Afterward, lawyer Kim Jong-hwi of the Lawyers for a Democratic Society's Civil Economy Committee, Lee Jong-hoon, director of theater production, lawyer Jeong Hee-kyung of Hankyung Law Firm, who advises the Korea Artists' Welfare Foundation, and Choi Young-soo of a stage technology company will participate in a comprehensive discussion.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism plans to finalize two standard contracts for technical support for performing arts by comprehensively considering the results of the discussion and opinions from the art world and related organizations, and notify them in July this year.
