The scammer who returned $10 million is actually an accomplice in a trap

Mr. Heo Eun-seok (Hanbyol Law LLC) explained that even if a victim of a reading room fraud temporarily receives his or her money back, the likelihood of punishment is very low if he or she did not intend to conceal or disguise the proceeds of crime. He interpreted the case by focusing on the fact that the victim was acting under the direction of the fraudulent organization, and provided a legal rationale that the crime requires "intent to know and conceal the proceeds of crime.

Mr. Heo advised that the lack of intent must be proven through specific circumstances, such as the facts of the victimization, the circumstances of the transfer, and the organization's instructions. He also emphasized the importance of organizing and submitting all relevant accounts and transaction details to reveal the entire case for investigation and recovery.
